What was the Civil Rights Movement ?
The civil rights movement was a mass protest against racial segregation and discrimination in the southern United States that came to national attention during the mid-1950s.
Who Was Involved
There were many people involved in the civil rights movement. Mostly African American women, children, men, and some famous people that we know today like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. There were also some whites that helped with protest.
Many African Americans had to endure a lot during the Civil Right. There were groups like the KKK who would burn crosses,lynch and murder . They also had to deal with bombings, police dogs and getting attacked with fire hoses. Some people were even killed.

The Civil Rights Movement started in 1955 and ended in 1968 . The movement lasted for 13 years.
