They Perish from hunger and from the claws of the wild beasts which roam the forest." (48) The Golden One "Their body was straight and thin as a blade of iron. Their eyes were dark and hard and glowing, with no fear in them, no kindness and no guilt."(38-39) Palace of Corrective Detention Tunnel Home of Infants Home of the Students World Council of Scholars The World Council of Scholars is made to sound as if they were the smartest of them all, in reality they are complete idiots. "But terror struck the men of the Council. They leapt to their feet, they ran from the table, and they stood pressed against the wall, huddled together, seeking the warmth of one another's bodies to give them courage." (70) A place where infants lived until they reached age 5. "We remember the Home of Infants where we lived till we were five years old, together with all the children of the City who had been born in the same year."(20) At five years of age, they were sent to the Home of the Students for ten years of learning. "When we five years old, we were sent to the Home of the Students, where there are ten wards, for our ten years of learning."(20) A place for correcting the wrong. "We stole the candle from the larder of the Home of the Street Sweepers. We shall be sentenced to ten years in the Palace of Corrective Detention if it be discovered."(18) Home of the Street Sweepers The people that work here were assigned by the Council of Vocations to work here until they reach 40 years of age. by Jordan Torres "Its walls were hard and smooth to the touch; it felt like stone, but it was not stone. On the ground there were long thin tracks of iron, but it was not iron; it felt smooth and cold as glass."(32) An underground tunnel that Equality 7-2521 and International 4-8818 had found. Home of the Useless "It is a grey house on a narrow street." (27) The place where people after the age of 40 go to because they are worn out and are useless. "At 40, they are sent to the Home of the Useless, where the old ones live. Th old ones do not work, for the State takes care of them."(28) Council of Vocations The place where you go to when you turn 15 to get your job assigned until you turn 40 then you go to the Home of the Useless. "The Golden One" also know as Liberty 5-3000, is a gorgeous and courageous girl due to her speaking to Equality 7-2521, when they are not supposed to until they go to the Palace of Mating. City Palace of Mating At a certain age the female and male of the human species goes to the Palace of Mating, so they can basically make babies and this happens every spring time so may all the babies be born in the winter time, and the children never know who their parents are. "This is the time each spring when all the men older than twenty and all the women older than eighteen are sent for one night to the City Palace of Mating. And each of the men have one of the women assigned to them by the Council of Eugenics. Children are born each winter, but women never see their children and children never know their parents."(41) A forest that has been inferred to be known as bad, evil, and unforgiving. "But we knew that they were alive, for a finger of the hand of the oldest, pointed to us, and fell down again. This was the only thing which moved, for the lips of the oldest did nt move as they said: "Street Sweeper."(26) Equality 7-2521 A handsome young man that has just seen his reflection for the first time while taking a drink from a stream in the Uncharted Forest. "For upon the blue of the sky below us, we saw our own face for the first time."(80) "I" The word in which Equality 7-2521 "Prometheus" had been looking for, and once he had found it, he was afraid at first, began to cry, and now uses it with pride. "I found in my house that I saw the word "I." And I understood this word, the book fell from my hands, and I wept, I who had never known tears."(98)
