Transcript of Hand Bulb Atomizer, New Generation Nebulizer

Hand-Bulb Atomizer
Vibrating Mesh Nebulizer
New Generation Nebulizers
Advantages and Disadvantages
Nebulizers use oxygen, compressed air or ultrasonic power to break up medical solutions and suspensions into small aerosol droplets that can be directly inhaled from the mouthpiece of the device

aerosol is a "mixture of gas and liquid particles,"
Vibrating Mesh Technology (VMT)
A new significant innovation was made in the nebulizer market around 2005, with creation of the ultrasonic Vibrating Mesh Technology (VMT).

With this technology a mesh/membrane with 1000-7000 laser drilled holes vibrates at the top of the liquid reservoir, and pressures out a mist of very fine droplets through the holes.

HBA& nasal spray pumps are used to administer sympathomimetic, antimuscarinic, anti-inflammatory, and anesthetic aerosol to upper airway.
Nebulizers are commonly used for the treatment of cystic fibrosis, asthma, COPD and other respiratory diseases.
In medicine, a nebulizer is a drug delivery device used to administer medication in the form of a mist inhaled into the lung.

Mechanism of Nebulizer
what is an aerosols ??

Few types of VMT are: Pari eFlow, Respironics i-Neb, Omron MicroAir, Beurer Nebulizer IH50, and Aerogen Aeroneb.

As the price of the ultrasonic VMT nebulizers carry a higher price compared to the previous models, most of the manufacturers continue also to sell the more "old fashioned" Jet nebulizer.
Types of VMT
Treatment in short time
The old problems found with the ultrasonic wave nebulizer, having too much liquid waste and undesired heating of the medical liquid, have also been solved by the new Vibrating Mesh nebulizers.
Advantages of VMT
what is a nebulizer ??
New Generation Nebulizers
uses a drug solution in a unit dose, sertile, preservative free blisteer pack containing 25-50μl of fluid.
the drug is extruded under pressure through a nozzle w small holes that produce a fine spray.
The nozzle is not reused and is disposed off w the blister
Advantages of NGN
dose is delivered in 1.5 sec
emitted dose is more than 70% contained in a blister @ 30 - 85 L/min
has built-in electronic monitor for measuring I
nspiratory Flow Rate (IFR).
It has a soft mist inhaler,
uses mech. energy to create an aerosol from liquid sol to produce a low velocity spray(10mm/sec)
delivers a unit dose of drug.

Patient place the respimat in mouth and press the button to release the drug spray.
manage upper airway inflammation and rhinitis, to provide local anesthesia.
spray pumps produces an aerosol suspension w high

mass median aerodynamic diameter
geometric standard deviation which are ideal for upper airway deposition.
