The flag of Suriname was created on November 25,1975.The flag colors are green,white,red and a yellow star.The red means progress and love.The green means hope.The white stand for peace and justice.

In Suriname the money used are called surinamese dollars. There is .10,.250,.100,.1,.25,and .5.The dollars come in 5.00,50.00,20.00,100.00,and 10.00.

In Suriname surinamese people speak Dutch as an official language.Most people learn Dutch as a second language. Surinamese people additionally speak Javanese ,Creole ,and Sranan.

Suriname is a Democratic Republic country.This means surinamese people make the decisions by voting.This is similar as to what the U.S. does.

Suriname paintings are different because,people who paint their paint all of the different cultures in Suriname.Which are Javanese,Jews,Chinese,Creole and more.These cultures.are all represented in the paintings.

Suriname has a wildlife trail called Brownsberg Nature Park.In the trail there is a Lo Waterfall.There is also The Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral.

Javanese women wear sarongs.Creole women wear kotomissie.This is a traditional costume.

In Suriname you have to have a mining and Geology degree in order to mine for gold.This was put in on 1986. It is also disobeyed.

Suriname has 10 major cities. Including Paramaribo,population,223,757. Also Lelydorp,population,18.223.

In Suriname school is free.Ages are from 6 to 12. Not many people go to high school.

Suriname has 5 religions. Including Christianity,Roman Catholic,and Hindi. Their top three are Christianity,Hindu,and Muslim.

Religion

Suriname has a Muslim holiday to celebrate the end of fasting.There is also a festival by the Hindu.Things are thrown into the street like Mardi Gras.

Suriname doesn’t have many traditional foods.The ones listed are Soto,Peanut Soup,and Pom.This dishes are served in bowls.

Suriname doesn’t have many sports.The sports played there are football (soccer),basketball,and volleyball.Suriname has no official teams.

Suriname is a place with not so familiar faces.There is Fareisa Joemmanbaks age 33.Also Cynthia McLeod age 81.
