Origin of Myth
; One theory claims that myths are distorted accounts of real historical events.
It's believed that
contained some moral , religous, philosophical truth or historical fact.
Consisted of Greek Myths , Greek Gods, and Greek Literature.

a collection of myths esp. one belonging to a particular religous or cultural religion.
Characteristics in Myth
are normally Gods, Supernatural heros and humans.
- myth, is a sacred narrative explaining how the world and human formed their present life
Is real facts that have been disguised and altered. For example names, Deucalion- another name for Noah.
Classical Mythology Map
This is basically just a map of city- states in Ancient Mythology.
Allegory- a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning typically a moral or political one

Zeus was the God of the Sky.
Hades was the God of the Underworld
Poseiden God of the Sea
All 3 Gods are Brothers.
In Greek Mythology there were myths. Myths of Figures, Creatures, Places and Heros.
In Greek Mythology there was Literature. Classic literature written by Gods.
Citizen of a City- State
Ancient Greeks reffered themselves to be citizens of their own individual city- state.
Each city- state had it's own goals, law, custom and personality. The Ancient Greeks were very loyal to their city-state.

Also all spoke the same
If the Ancient Greek was from Sparta he would say , "I am Spartan". And if he was from Athens he would say, "I am Athenian."

states that mythic patterns are between "good and evil."He states that the Hebrew Bible is a "reinterpretation of myth in history"
Some historians belive
that the Hebrew Bible has passages that describe historical events.
