What task does the robot perform? What human function or tas
Transcript of What task does the robot perform? What human function or tas
Where is the robot used? What is its work envelope (how many degrees of freedom or flexible joints does the robot have)?
Is the robotic end effector multi-functional? If so, what other task can it perform?
How is the robot taught to perform its task?
What sensors do the robot have and how does the robot use the sensors?
Name some advantages and disadvantages of using a robot to complete this task.
Describe the impact that this robot has had or could have had on its intended audience.
What type of jobs/careers can this robot create to provide employment for people?
Predict and explain how this robot may be altered to perform more or different tasks in the future?
The Industrial Robot is used to perform different types of actions.
For example: welding, painting, ironing, assembling, pick and place, palletizing, product inspection, and testing.
The Industrial Robot is used mostly in a factory environment for manufacturing. It has 4 to 6 flexible joints to form what looks like a human arm.
Yes, it is multi functional. It can be used to paint, weld, iron, assemble, etc. ( video in slide 10 )
The Industrial Robot is programed by a device called a teach pendant. While in "teach" mode the robot is limited to a maximum speed of 250mm/s to ensure safety. The robot can be moved axis at a time or can usually also be moved in a system.
Some have sensors on the on the end of the effector. It is used to help pick up objects.
One advantage of having an industrial robot is you can get things done faster. One disadvantage is it takes away jobs for people who weld, paint, assemble, and test.
It get things done faster that would take a really long time for a human to do, like putting together a car.
It creates a job where someone has to monitor the robot to make sure everything goes correctly.
It can be altered to be multifunctional. It can have more than one arm added to it.
