Transcript of Walmart

The First Stores
They started with nine franchises named Ben Franklin. Then they opened one big store named Walmart, located in Rogers, Arkansas.
In 1970 Walmart became publicly traded company.
The first stock was sold at 16.50 per share
. In 1972 Walmart was listed on the New York stock exchange.(WMT)

Walmart was founded in 1962 by Sam and Helen Walton.

Sam Walton died of cancer in 1992, at age 74.

Fun Fact
: The number one product sold at Walmart is Bananas.
Walmart is known for selling a variety of goods. Such as groceries, clothing for all people, tools, hardware or electronics.

In November of 2012 at least
117 workers were killed in
Walmart's eight story factory in Bangladesh.
In 1997 Walmart set up a store in Germany. It was a $370 billion retail market. So no one knows why they withdrew form the country.
In 1988, the first Wal-Mart
Supercenter in Washington, Missouri.
By the mid-1990s it was one of the most powerful retailers in the US and spread to Mexico in 1991 and Canada in 1994.
