Which words or phrases did this student replace? Remember to capitalize and write full stops. Write out any months and days of the week in full. Eg. Write January instead of JAN, Monday instead of MON. In an introduction, do not give too many details. Do not give numbers. You don't want your introduction to be longer than roughly two sentences or three lines. Notice how this student does not repeat the word Kolkata but uses the words "the city" instead. This is a very good way to avoid repetition. The climatograph indicates average temperatures and rainfall per month in the city of Kolkata. The change of precipitation in the graph is dramatic n some periods. In contrast, the change of temperature is slight. A glance at the table provided reveals the average monthly temperatures and rainfall in the city of Kolkata. Overall, the temperatures are highest between APR and JUN, and the highest precipitation occurs during JUL to SEP. A new supermarket plans to open at the town of Garlsdon. They selected the places that are suitable for opening supermarkets carefully, compared the location and the population of the other town which is near Garlsdon and so on. At last, they chose two places that they thought are much better than others called S1 and S2. Introduction: Example 2 Body Paragraphs: using sub-topics P1: rainfall
P2: precipitation Subtopics P1: November to April
P2: May to October P1: greatest changes

P2: middle The chart compares average figures for temperature and precipitation over the course of a calendar year in Kolkata. Model essay 1 Figures: statistics, averages, data Do not change temperature and precipitation Compares: contrasts, illustrates, shows, displays, collects, summarises Course: span, duration Calendar year: twelve months It is noticeable that monthly figures for precipitation in Kolkata vary considerably, whereas monthly temperatures remain relatively stable. Rainfall is highest from July to August, while temperatures are highest in April and May. Model Essay 1 It is noticeable that: it is striking that, it is evident that, manifestly Vary: change, fluctuate, rise and fall Considerably: much, to a great extent whereas: but, and yet, however relatively: more or less, roughly stable: the same, constant Between the months of January and May, average temperatures in Kolkata rise from their lowest point at around 20°C to a peak of just over 30°C. Average rainfall in the city also rises over the same period, from approximately 20mm of rain in January to 100mm in May. Model essay 1 While temperatures stay roughly the same for the next four months, the amount of rainfall more than doubles between May and June. Figures for precipitation remain above 250mm from June to September, peaking at around 330mm in July. The final three months of the year see a dramatic fall in precipitation, to a low of about 10mm in December, and a steady drop in temperatures back to the January average. Model Essay 1 The map illustrates the two proposed sites for the construction of a supermarket in Garlsdon, a town with sixty-five thousand inhabitants. The town comprises a town centre surrounded by an industrial area with residential areas at its north and south ends, and the countryside immediately bordering the industry and housing areas. Model essay 2 One of the proposed locations is in the town centre, whereas the other is in the countryside. Both of these sites are conveniently accessible by rail, but only the one in countryside has access to a main road, which leads to the much smaller town of Hindon twelve kilometers away. This location, however, is far from the residential areas and the town centre, as well as the other two main roads that lead to the towns Bransdon and Cransdon. Model Essay 2 The plan to build the supermarket in the town centre, too, has certain drawbacks, namely, its location in the middle of a no traffic zone at a considerable distance from both residential areas and all three main roads. It is, nevertheless, enveloped by industry and situated at a much smaller distance from the housing areas than the proposed location in the countryside. Model Essay 2 Model essay 3 The bar chart shows the predicted sales of jeans in thousands of pairs for two companies in Turkey; Mango Co. and Jack & Jones Co. for next year.

Those of Jack & Jones Co. are predicted to be stable until August picking up to 600,000 pairs in September and October.

Model Essay 3 Sales of Jack & Jones will reach a pick of 900,000 in December, For those of Mango Co. is forecasted a gradual increase with the largest sale of 600,000 pairs in December. In the beginning of the next year those of Mango Co. will stand at 150,000 pairs falling back to 100,000 pairs in February, rising steadily to 250,000 in June, In subsequent months sales will reach 450,000 pairs increasing to 500,000 pairs in August, staying stable until November,
