What do I look for?
The DSBN Literacy Portfolio
provides tools to assess current skills in
reading fluency and comprehension
writing - all across the achievement chart
You select one indicator for Language- not one for each strand.
Consider the process skills for your grade level
You select one indicator for Math- not one for each strand.
Since the process (inquiry) skills are applied in all strands, you can more readily observe the skills the student will bring to any content.
Similarly to Science, we are looking for evidence of inquiry skills
Consider the skills the students will bring to their study of Social studies/ history/ geography.
You select one indicator for Social Studies-
not one for each strand.
Assign a letter symbol to each skill.
Focus comments on those skills that are particular strengths and those that will be particular goals for each student.
Report on each strand in which the students have received instruction.
Use NA + "[Music] will be reported in term one."
Listen.
Report on BOTH Health and Phys. Ed. There is no NA.
Questions?
Ideas to share with the group?
You only need to report on history OR geography.
You will report on French as a subject, rather than on the separate strands on the Progress Report.
