Transcript of Memories are what makes us Human

Memories are Forever
“If you were to be lost in the river, Jonas, your memories would not be lost with you. Memories are forever.”
― Lois Lowry, The Giver
Memories
Memories Pass Between Generations
There are a few people in Jonas's community that have pale eyes. These individuals have the ability to become The Receiver of Memories. They can either see, hear or sense things that are beyond the community. In Jonas's case he has the ability to see colours.
The Story of My Life
I think the song lyrics of The Story of My Life by One Direction relates to the theme Memories make us Human.
Memories Need to be Shared
When you share your memories
the burden will be lessened by
half. By sharing your memories it
will help other people better understand you.
Photos
People often take photos to persevere memories, a moment that is gone forever and impossible to reproduce.
News Article by BBC
A recent article by BBC suggests behavior might be affected from previous generations through form of genetic memory. An experiment was done with mice. The animals were trained to avoid a cherry blossom scent. When the mice reproduced the offspring and their offspring would be extremely sensitive to the scent and avoid it. Even if they never experienced the scent ever in their life. This shows that memories are forever and it is so significant that they get passed on to the next generation. In the Giver when climate and differences were gone the memories of them remain and they get passed on.
Lyrics
Written in these walls are the stories that I can't explain
I leave my heart open but it stays right here empty for days

Memories are what makes us Human
The Giver
An important characteristic of humans are that we have memories. Without them we wouldn't be able to relive the past. Memories shapes who we are.
Photos freeze us in time.

“And here in this room, I re-experience the memories again and again it is how wisdom comes and how we shape our future.”

― Lois Lowry, The Giver
“The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It's the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared.”
― Lois Lowry, The Giver
Pale Eyes
Thinking about the past and the
memories that they can't change.
She told me in the morning
She don't feel the same about us in her bones
It seems to me that when I die
These words will be written on my stone

And I'll be gone, gone tonight
The ground beneath my feet is open wide
The way that I've been holdin' on too tight
With nothing in between

The story of my life, I take her home
I drive all night to keep her warm and time
Is frozen (the story of, the story of)
The story of my life, I give her hope
I spend her love until she's broke, inside
The story of my life (the story of, the story of)

Wants to go back to
the past, but can't.
When they die the
memories will be written
on his grave.
Stuck in the memories.
Holding on to the memories.
Wants to relive those memories.
The past is frozen in the photographs.
Can't remember certian details in some memories.
In this photo it shows how we replay the
memories we have and visualize them again and again. The quote mentioned above clearly states that by thinking about the memories we will gain wisdom and that's how we shape our future.
Something might be gone forever, but memories are forever. You might think you forgot a memory, but I personally think all your memories get stored in a special part of your brain and sometimes you just can't access it. It still remains there because memories are forever. Sometimes when you smell a distinct scent it would help you recall a long lost memory.
