Life of Jose Rizal in London Stay in London May,1888 to March, 1889 For three Reasons:
to improve his knowledge of the english language
to study and annotate Morga's Sucesos de ls Islas Filipinas, a rare copy which he heard to be available in the British Museum
London was a safe place for him to carry on his fight against Spanish Tyranny. Trip Across the Atlantic May 16, 1888- Rizal left
New York to go to London He made some friends in his Atlantic Voyage
He entertained the American and European passengers with his skill with the yoyo as an offensive weapon
Had a chat with newspaper men but became disappointed May 24, 1888- Rizal arrived in Liverpool Liverpool
"is a big and beautiful city and its celebrated port is worthy of its great fame. The entrance is magnificent and the customhouse is quite good." Life in London Stayed at the Adelphi Hotel.. May 25,1888
-Rizal went to London and stayed in the house of
Dr. Antonio Ma. Regidor No.37 Chalcot Crescent, Primrose Hill. The Beckett home was conveniently located. He called Rizal as a "Pearl of Man" Good news and Bad news from Home Rev. Vicente Garcia's defense of the Noli against the attacks of the friars. 1.Filipino signatories of the “Petition of 1888” and the tenants of the Calamba agrarian trouble were facing persecution
