By: Edgar Allan Poe The Narrator The narrator is a childhood loyal friend of Roderick in the story. The narrator went to visit Roderick because he had received a letter in which he spoke of being ill. He was Roderick's only personal friend. Roderick begged him to immediately see him. He was basically the light of the house, but there was too much evil in the house. Unfortunately,Roderick and his sister died along with the house. Therefore, the narrator wasn't able to help, but at the end of the story he survived the madness of the Usher's. The narrator was the light in the house, but evil at the end won. - the Autumn time the narrator went to visit his childhood friend in the Ushers mansion. He noticed that when he got there that the mansion was neglected,looked like that the mansion was falling apart. Roderick suffers from keen senses,and his love for Madeline (twin sister) is too over powering. When Madeline had died they placed her body in the vaults. Roderick went crazy after burring his sister. He sensed that Madeline was in front of the door still alive. Then Madeline fell on top of Roderick.The Narrator fled from the house after it began to shake and tInhe cracked opened wide up and the house collapses. The story demonstrates how a brother's love for his sister can be stronger then anything in life. Roderick's love for Madeline has taken him to his death. He slowly deteriorates making him not aware of his surroundings. This demonstrates how love for Madeline was over protective and obsessive . The Evil House
