Solar Power Project Solar power is the generation of electricity from sunlight. Solar energy can provide power to homes, but it also can power everyday appliances. Examples and Applications: calculators

garden fountains Effects on Society Manufacturing Although only subtle, the processes and materials used in the manufacturing of solar cells have a negative impact on the environment through side effects such as pollution (carbon emissions from energy usage) and wast (Silicon Terachloride). Transportation Transportation of materials such as panels and inverters will also contribute to the overall environmental impact of solar system before it is generating electricity, with fossil fuelled cargo ships and trucks transporting the items. Location While most residential systems are accommodated on roofs, larger scale commercial and utility installations require areas of land. Ideally these shoulde be in locations sparse ion flora and fauna, however in some instances this isn't the case, requiring trees and shrubbery be removed and potentially impacting specific species and habitats. Effects on the Economy Solar power has reduced Carbon emission and fossil fuel dependence and made the economy anew. The problem with this has always been the initial investment to put up such a system takes about 10 to 20 years to pay. But we would be doing well by investing in these technologies. Changing to renewable energies would not only benefit the environment and our health but also it would trigger our economy and trade, for it would create new jobs that are more long-term. How does solar energy work? Solar power works by converting some of the energy in the sunlight into a clean form of electricity that can be used in our houses. The PV cells consist of a positive and negative slice of silicon placed under a thin slice of glass. As the protons of the sunlight beat down onto the PV cell, they knock the neutrons off the silicon. The negatively charged free neutrons are attracted to the silicon but are trapped by the magnetic field that is formed from the opposing fields. Small wires on the silicon catch these neutrons and when connected in a circuit an electric current is formed. What are some advantages and disadvantages of solar energized appliances? Advantages Excellent emergency power solution - no fuel or electricity needed.
Decrease your dependence on conventional energy sources.
Once purchased - you save money and benefit from it for a long time.
Stored energy can be used at night or during unpleasant weather.
Portable solar chargers can be carried with you wherever you go.
Excellent alternative to those who want to save on electricity.
Government tax incentives and grants offered for many solar items.
Sunlight is renewable, free, and clean. Disadvantages Cost.
