riley was interested in
The design process contains 5 steps which are shown on the picture. Identify then explore and plan and other steps.
What interest Riley about mechanical engineering was the roller coaster. Making a roller coaster would be the coolest thing ever. If the mechanical engineering consist of roller coasters what else could be in the subject, cars? So that is what really interested Riley about the subject. So on the other hand he also liked that there are all types of mechanical engineering. So he could try anything he wanted to try. With a degree of course anyone could do anything. Back to talking about mechanical engineering. So anyway those are the reasons why Riley is interested in mechanical engineering.
E car wheels
This is the front of the wheel it took a short amount of time to build. as you can see its material is wood.
the motor was easily made in 3 minutes. it was basically made just like the wheel. consisted of making a right plane and a circle to get started
This is a more recent version the the chassis. It is almost finished. As the longest part of the ecar it should be the best it can be.
In engineering/ technology I was given a task. It was to watch a video and answer some questions. I watched the video and the skate boarders could have used solid works to make a model of the skate park so they could have a good idea how to build it. The other question was how they could have used the laser ingraver.They could have used the laser engraver when they wanted to create some designs. Such as their logo.
The easiest way to do the project would definitely be solid works. 12 is a shown picture.

The x, y and z axis are in my own words a way to measure things.Or for a machine to know where to do what its programmed to do. Such as the laser engraver. It uses an x, y, and z axis to know where to cut.

The only obstacle in this solid works creation was that I had to make more than one.
The objective of the water tower is to show the importance of drinking water. The purpose is for the students to think like a real water scientist.
The judging will be based on
structural efficiency which it can hold the amount of water needed, hydrolic efficiency which is the functioning of you water tower , cost efficiency depending on the material you bought, and design ingenuity.
structural efficiency is the weight of the tower without water and with water. If it holds the water and weighs nothing its perfect.
hydrolic plumbing is the speed and efficiency in which the water flows through the water tower
cost efficency is the amount of money you spent to buy the materials you needed for your water tower the less money the better.
Design ingenuity is the water towers creativity. Such as if you do a rock you have no creativity but if you do coral, that's a great idea.
1. Your model should not leak.
2. The tank should be between 1.5 and 2.5 feet
3. The tank must have a removable lid.
4. When finished it must hold 1 or 2 gallons of water.
5. It must use the 3/8 inch connector as supplied

the average weight a water tower holds is 340,000 gallons of water. A gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds. So the amount of water held in liters is pretty big. :)
Rileys project can be innovated by using the three element desirability, capability, and viability. Viability means capable of success. My water is very successful only using recycled materials. While desirability means worth doing or achieving. My water tower is worth achieving a trophy in the class competition .Capability means to be capable of. My water tower is capable of holding 1.5 gallons of water. So in conclusion my water tower is very capable. Not only viable, but very desirable. So those are the three elements of my water tower
How can my water tower be innovated?
When a ball hits a wooden bat loses 75% of its power. In collision contact with a normal wooden bat. While the force lost in a aluminum bat is much less. Apparently the when the aluminum bat hits the ball it is like a trampoline. Therefore making them more dangerous with a higher acceleration on the speed of the ball. The test have proven a ball hit with an aluminum bat has a 30 feet farther distance capability than a wooden bat hitting a ball. An average wooden ball speed is 99 mph while an aluminum bat is between 100 and 107 mph. Therefore the aluminum bat is better for any baseball player to use. Especially for world class sluggers like David Ortiz.

One way to make your rocket more stable is to increase the size of the fins or to move the fins more to the rear of the rocket. These actions will move the center of pressure rearward. Another way to improve the stability of the rocket is to add weight into the nose cone, which will move the center of gravity toward the front end of the rocket. Both methods work because they increase the distance between the center of gravity and the center of pressure.
Wind tunnels simulate flight by giving the workers an idea of how the craft is going to fly. An object is placed in the section of a tunnel and connected to a tool that measures and records airflow around the aircraft. In addition to that the aerodynamic forces that act upon it. From information gathered in these observations, engineers can develop conclusions about the plane or object. Apparently no aircraft can be in flight without being tested by a wind tunnel.
If the aircraft is not tested peoples lives might be in danger. Which would include if someone got hurt immediate shut down of the company. Therefore Wind Tunnels are an important part in flight history. Wind tunnels are important tools for finishing a plane.
I believe that we need a national P art? campaign for skilled labor

1. My rocket
The highest salary is 160,000 and the lowest is 8 dollars
So far as of 2013 We will be taking exams and be making items in solidworks without the tutorials and videos. I think that this will be hard but because i work very hard that this wont be that bad.
In the time in which we have been working on the rocket i have learned alot in solidworks such as how to use flowworks and that you need to add air pressure and all other properties that would effect the flight of your rocket. I also learned that when doing a milter flange you need to remember where you placed it.

For my project two i made coasters tiles in the laser engraver what ive realized is that instead of just using the laser for random stuff i should use it for buisness products which is what mr ericson told me to do so far ive made the tile engraving but i still need to make the tutorial and the stand

Cte is the career in technology education. Cte works for all ages. Including adults and high school students. When working in cte you give to the economy and increases revenue in more places than one. Such places include Washington, Connecticut, and Tennessee. Cte is a helpful business in which it helps the government in many ways. Cte is a great way to go in technology. Studies also show people who work in cte make from 4,000 to 19,000 or more per year. More importantly though cte serves 94 percent of all high school students and that is definitely a lot of students. Cte is incredible in which it provides a start to a great career for many students.

This week Riley learned about the lab expectations.He also learned about his next project which will be an 100% recycled material made lampshade.
1. 1. A standard three (3)-ring binder, with a clear front sleeve
for a cover page, is required. The cover page must include
the event title, the conference city and state, and the year.
The inside of the binder must include typed single-sided,
8 ½" x 11" pages (except for the working drawings) in the
a. Title page—centered on the page in consecutive lines:
the product name, followed by the conference city and
state, and the year; one (1) page.
b. Table of contents
c. Description of product—a written description of the
product, instructions for its use, and the advantages
of its use; the description should include the overall
usefulness of the product, its audience, and related
safety considerations; one (1) page.
D. Place entry numbers in the lower right hand corner of the
displays and on one (1) of the two (2) products. Position displays
for viewing by evaluators.
E. Meet with your evaluators/assistants to review time limits,
procedures, and regulations. If questions arise that cannot
be answered, speak to the event manager before the event
F. For participants who violate the rules, the decision either to
1) deduct twenty percent (20%) of the total possible points or
2) disqualify the entry must be discussed and verified with the
evaluators, event coordinator, and CRC manager, who all must
initial either of these actions on the rating form.
G. Evaluators independently evaluate the entries.
H. Prepare a list of the twelve (12) semifinalists in random order
and submit it to the CRC room for posting.
I. Evaluators independently evaluate the semifinalist entries.
J. Evaluators tally and turn in the rating forms. Any ties that affect
the top three (3) places should be broken by using the highest
average score for evaluative criteria.
K. Submit the finalist report, including a ranking of the ten (10)
finalists, and all related forms in the results envelope to the CRC
L. If necessary, manage security and the removal of materials from
the event area.
Technology can be used in repair damage caused by natural disasters in many ways. Such as machines to help fix them. Or the internet to search for repair builders.Or maybe when tracking natural disasters to prevent future incidents. They also could help get lif insurance. Technology can also be used to anticipate a hurricane's location. In many ways to repair we usually use machines such as cranes, bulldozers, and not to mention excavators. Also to get loans for the money you may use your computers. Last but not least they might use their phones to communicate with their loved ones for a place to stay
The laser engraver is a main part of this project in which we have to engrave our lampshades into the shape we want them to be.
Blake O'Neal helped Riley get an Idea of what the project would look like. Andrew Petkash created the flyer with a little bit of help from Blake and Riley. Louis Rush read the manual with help from Riley, is going to paint the boxes black, and helped to create the digital PowerPoint. Riley Rew created the idea, helped with the flyer, is bringing in supplies, and made the PowerPoint presentation.

The advantages of owning this lampshade are that you are contributing to the environment, and not to mention it’s convenient cost it makes for a perfect gift for small children who are in love with space.
To turn on lamp slide on/off switch to on. To properly place lamp hang from ceiling or high place.
Do not place near flammable objects such as paper, and do not leave small children unattended alone with lampshade. WE ARE NOT AND I REPEAT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURIES.

Soulcraft bikes is a company that makes steel bikes. In the video i saw at least 20 or more measurement tools. The process which the steel bikes are made is very difficult.
Work for the week
The first electric motor was created by a blacksmith named William Sturgeon and changed the way we work by giving us more modes of transportation. And making getting to work easier. The electric motor gave us an extraordinary amount of advance in technology.
