Concerned with sustaining and maintaining

Very dangerous when threatened
Known to be suspicious and manipulative
Concerned with transformation and change
"Acting in accordance with the principles of government analyzed in Machiavelli's The Prince, in which political expediency is placed above morality and the use of craft and deceit to maintain the authority and carry out the policies of a ruler is described".

Scorpio and Machiavellianism
"The total ruin of institutions and morals is an act of creation"(118)
Scorpio & Grendel
Hrothulf starts to become hostile and reticent, this is symbolic of Scorpio as it is known for its reserved, threatening nature.
"Murder and mayhem are the life and soul of revolution"(118)
Scorpio concerns itself with change, this is reflected by the revolution that will be brought about by Hrothulf, Scorpio also operates with in the realm of life and death which is the fuel and product of change.
"But satisfy the greed of the majority, and the rest will do you no harm"(118)
Machiavellianism and Grendel
In Machiavellian ideology, giving the majority of people a sense of freedom and security will make them happy.
"The state is an organization of violence, a monopoly in what is pleased to call legitimate violence"(119)
In Machiavelli's teachings he too calls the state a monopoly. This quote also embodies his main philosophy that force is acceptable no matter how unscrupulous if need be.
This reflects both Scorpio and Machiavellian philosophy by stating that the destruction of government is a means of creation, which is symbolic of Scorpio and to separate from morals in order to create maintain and sustain the institution.

This quote demonstrates the manipulative characteristics of a Scorpio. It also displays the justification of heinous acts in order to secure power.
