Transcript of Conservation
What is "conservation?"
Easy! Only 4 words . . .
NOT WASTING OUR STUFF!
NOT WASTING OUR STUFF!!!
...And to the real thing.
But it's not that simple
For instance, there are many ways to conserve.
But the one type of conservation people have the most trouble with is conserving our natural resources.
What is one thing you need to know about conservation?
You got to go beyond the tip of the iceburg . . .
There are many big fancy words that have to do with conservation.
Renewable & NonrenewableResources
Definition - to use up our resources.
Good or Bad?
Definition - Things that are harmful to the environment. ( We do most of it!!! )
#over illumination and light trespass
Good or Bad?
Nonrenewable-once it's gone, it's gone!
Renewable-capable of being replaced
Examples of Nonrenewable resources-
Examples of Renewable Resources-
Here's a few
# Natural Gas
# Solar Stuff
Pick up litter were you see it, or take trash bags with you when you walk.
Recycle empty glass, cans, and paper.
But There are things YOU can do to prevent natural resource waste and pollution!
Write on the back of used papers instead of getting new paper.
Turn of your electronics at night. No one is there to use them anyway!
People who care
If you haven't already noticed, there are alot more bad things than good.
All these little things add up to a big difference.
"Going green" doesn't have to be this HUGE task that means intense life changes. Simple things can make a difference.
YOU can make a difference.
There are people who volunteer to help the environment.
People volunteer to pick up waste.
People volunteer to help after oil spills.
Pollution and wasting natural resources doesn't only effect people, though. You remember that plastic bag you threw out into the wind last week? Yeah, one, littering, two, TOTAL resource waste.
All that waste goes somewhere.
People are slowly ( ok, not so slowly) using up our natural resources by polluting water, air, deforestation, etc.
You're saving power/energy!
You're saving glass (which comes from sand), paper (tree pulp), and metal!
You're saving trees!
You're stopping water and soil pollution!
