Where I work
I work in civil society development
and I am a new media communicator. I am passionate about grass-root initiatives and community projects.
I believe that in countries in transition civic enga-gement and the social embeddedness of civil society should be fostered from the first moment. Outworn support mechanisms do a lot of harm in newborn democracies. My job usually begins when the damage is already done. I get grant-dependent NGOs towards real supporters. I visit civic initiatives and tell their stories. I love to make data and complex information easy to understand. And I enjoy starting up whistle-blowers, community media and social movements.

Visiting
Grassroots Europe

A digital storytelling project for Open Society Foundations Education Support Programme
Connecting educational grass-root initiatives in 8 countries via digital storytelling: a blog, infographics, video coverages from the field, and hybrid publications. I enjoy this job, it's one of my most gratifying assignments. Visiting self-organized local initiatives on exciting venues, with live coverage. Explaining the information I gathered in informal blog posts, infographics and videos from the field. Editing in my hotel bed, or the bus on my way to a small town in Italy, Albania, or Latvia. I'd love to do some more of this.

Community Media+
Foundation for Development of Democratic Rights
2013-2014
NGOs and informal groups from Albania, Serbia and Bosnia and Hercegovina were trained and mentored to start or improve their community media with help from practitioners and development experts from Visegrad countries. Community radios, whistle-blower community sites came to life, and built communities.
Albanian
Student Whistle-blowers
ongoing
Foundation for Development of Democratic Rights
The corruption in Albanian universities (and the whole education system) is startling. Everything is based on bribes: good grades, or even signing up for a seminar. A group of students gathered to do something about it. They re-invented the whistle-blower movement when they approached me, as they didn't know what it is. There were no former examples of social movements in Albania, thus they had no role models. I am mentoring them for a few months now. They learned how to organize themselves, we designed a community website, created a strategy, planned their fundraising ativities. I recruited a former Greenpeace action-campaign manager to help us. It's an exciting project, can't wait to launch the site and the first events.
We Educate Together
2013
grass-root campaign for inclusive education
Segregation is becoming more and more common in Hungarian education. Roma children, children in extreme poverty, or challenged children are increasingly excluded. The power of the campaign was it'd diversity. Small, grass-root NGOs from different fields (some working with Roma, some with challenged kids, or human rights) launched a joint campaign involving parents, and all kinds of stakeholders. A lot of pro bono resources were involved: filmmakers, communication agencies, mediators, facilitators, editors, media, celebrities. We asked people to speak up, and share their stories. And then we asked to meet on public forums. It was a revelation for most of the participants. We made our point.

Strenghtening the Fundraising Capacities of NGDOs in Central Europe
2010-2012
NGOs working on international development field are in a difficult position. We organized study visits and fact finding trips, local and regional trainings and developed training materials. We published a toolkit of case studies. We managed to get decision makers to our roundtables, and established organizational and professional platforms in 4 countries.
Foundation for Development of Democratic Rights
The project is a best practice at EuropeAid.

Hajléktaland
2009
communication campaign of the non-formal group The City Belongs to All of US
The group is the first grass-root initiative in Hungary that involves homeless people as activist together with social workers and other activists. Hajléktaland is a book that imitates Lonely Planet books. It guides the reader to the Budapest of the homeless. I was invited as an expert by experience. As a refugee of of the Balkan wars, I was homeless in Hungary at the age of 18-19. By the time of this project, I was an experienced writer, editor and I just started with information design. I contributed with texts, and shaped the structure of the book.
