Transcript of Air Pollution
By:Stephen Nieves FACTS!
1-According to the US-EPA,Power plants contribute to over 2,800 lung cancer deaths and 38,200 hearty attacks nnually in the U.S.
2-400,000 Chinese die each year from respiratory illness and other diseases related to air pollution
3-A person would lose 13 pounds if they walked one half hour a day instead of riding or driving a motor vehicle. If every US citizen between the ages of 10 to 74 walked this equivalent each day rather than drive, our carbon dioxide emissions would be decreased by 64 million tons.
Air Pollution- The contamination of air from smoke
and harmful gases, mainly oxides of carbon, sulfur ,
and nitrogen The things we can do...
grow plants dont smoke! Use Hybrids! Install catalytic filters -uses electric power to reduce the amount of harmful
gases that are released. Three cigarettes can cause more air pollution than a diesel car's exhaust, according to an Italian study.
absorbs potential harmful gases Through the combined effort of various governments and individuals, improvements have already been seen.
Currently it would take 20 of todays new automobiles to release the same number of emissions as a 1960s model
EPA statistics state that the decrease in EPA emissions is about 48% across the board, reducing pollution by 109 million tons of toxic fumes
REDUCES HARMFUL SMOG FORMING GASES. carpool! For each person in a carpool there is one less vehicle on the road spewing out pollution.
