The ICT strategy plan represents the alignment of the mission of the whole entity with everyone's task
The mission&the vision
- Vision: Being the no. 1 institution for financial and postal services and satisfy the users.
- Mission: Provide a reliable and cost effective financial and ERP products services to the user.

Objective 1: Constructing telecommunication.
Installing 1000 LANs that are composed of 1000 switch for 1,000,000 EGP and 1000 routers for 1,000,000 EGP in 30 days.


Task 1.1.2
Installing 1000 LANs that are composed of 1000 switch for 1,000,000 EGP and 1000 routers for 1,000,000 EGP in 30 days.

GOAL 1.1
We have 4000 offices, 1000 of them have only one counter (ie: 1 pc) and therefore don’t need LAN.

Installing 4000 WANs in the 4000 branches of Egypt Post
Task 1.2.1
Install 1000 WANs and use 1000 routers for the 1000 branches that contain 1 counter each. Also, we need 1000 copper wires to connect each branch to telecom Egypt.

Install 1000 WANs using 1000 copper wires in 30 days

GOAL 1.3
Install the Internet and Intranet with a total bandwidth of 8010M. (8000M for the intranet and 10M for the internet).

Install the intranet using a 4000 M fibre cable and connect it between the router in the server farm and the router in telecom Egypt costing 700,000 EGP (installation and operation)

Install the internet using a 10M copper wire and connect it between the router in the server farm and the router in telecom Egypt.


Objective 2: Setting up Hardware

Goal 2.1
Installing the server hardware for each service.
Task 2.1.1:
Buying 1 server for the ERP costing 12,000,000 in 1 week. Since the number of counters is 20,000 we assume that each counter performs 100 transactions per minute, so there are 2,000,000 trasactions performed per minute. 32 CPUs perform 2 million transactions per minute, we need 32 CPUs .32 CPUs mean that the server will be a mini-computer since a mini-computer can be from 2-100 CPUs
Task 2.1.2
Buying 1 server for the financial services, costing 12,000,000 in 1 week. Since the number of counters is 20,000 we assume that each counter performs 100 trasactions per minute, so there are 2,000,000 trasactions performed per minute. 32 CPU’s perform 2 million transactions per minute, we need 32 CPU’s .32 CPU’s mean that the server will be a mini-computer since a mini-computer can be from 2-100 CPU’s.

Goal 2.2
Installing client hardware for the employees.
Task 2.2.1
We have 20,000 counters, we’ll assume that each counter performs 100 trasactions per minute. 32 CPU’s perform 2 million transactions. So one counter will need 1 CPU which means that it needs a micro-computer. Therefore, we’ll need 20,000 pc’s costing 40,000,000 EGP (20,000 pc’s 2000 EGP each).

Task 3.1.1
Installing windows for the client hardware of the employees because we need an operating system that is single user, single processor, and multi-tasking. Single user because only one employee uses the PC. Single processor because each employee can perform a maximum of 100 transactions per minute will will not exceed one CPU. Multi tasking as it performs round robin.


Task 3.1.2
Installing UNIX operating system for the server hardware because we need an operating system that is multi-users, multi-processors, and multi-tasks. Multi users because all the client hardware of the employees have access to the server. Multi processors because it requires 32 CPUs because 2,000,000 transactions are being performed per minute. ( 20,000 counters*100 transaction per minute). Multi task because it is performing more than one task at the same time. This operating system will be used for both servers; the ERP, and the financial services.

Task 3.2.1
Installing Microsoft SQL for the ERP server because we 60,000 employees with a maximum of 60,000 records for 500,000 L.E in 10 days.


Installing IBM DB2 for the financial services server because we have 25,000,000 clients with a maximum of 25,000,000 records for 4,000,000 L.E in 10 days.

Installing application software.


Buying ERP application software for 10,000,000 L.E. (5,000,000 for the license, and 5,000,000 for the implementation) in one week.
Buying Financial Services application software in one week.

Providing Backup and security.
Providing a backup for telecommunication.



Task 4.1.1
Providing a backup for the LAN with WiFi switches with a total of 1000 WiFi switches for the main 1000 office. The 1000 WiFi switches will cost 500,000 EGP (500 EGP each). This backup will be installed in 30 days.


Providing a backup for the WAN with WiMax antenna between telecom Egypt and the headquarter. This will cost 450,000 EGP (200,000 EGP for the antenna and 250,000 EGP for the frequency band).


Constructing a backup for the server farm (headquarter) as a replica of the original server farm. Consisting of 1 server for the ERP, 1 server for the financial services and a copper cable of 10M for the internet connection and a fibre cable of 4000 M for the intranet connection as well as a WiMax antenna between the telecom Egypt and the backup headquarter. The software and database for the servers will be the same as those in the original headquarter. This will take 6 months.
