Andrew Johnson Andrew Johnson was born on
December 29, 1808. He was born in a two room log cabin
in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was three years old when his father died. He married Eliza McCardle, and they had three sons, and two daughters Martha, Charles, Mary, Robert, Andrew. Andrew Johnson was a U.S. Senator, Military Governor of Tennessee, Vice President, and President of the United States. In 1875, Johnson returns to Washington to serve in the U.S. Senate. He becomes the only former President to serve as a Senate. Between 1834-1843 he served two terms as Mayor of Greenville and was elected three times to the Tennessee State Legislature. April 14, 1865 President Lincoln was
assassinated and Andrew Johnson became President. Lincoln appointed Johnson
as Military Governor in 1862 The senetors tried to vote to
have President Johnson impeached
but they were one vote too short. President Andrew Johnson never
attended school because they didn't have
