Magdalena Del Carmen Frida Kahlo Calderon
Born in coyoacán, Mexico, on July 6th, 1907.
Parents: Matilde Calderon and Guillermo Kahlo
At the age of 18, she suffered an accident in an autobus.
Frida joined at the new artistic movement in 1928.
Her paintings, mostly self-portraits, were deliberately naïve, and filled with colors and forms of Mexican folk art.
At 22 years old, she married with the famous Mexican muralist, Diego Rivera
Frida was bisexual and she couldn't have children.
During her lifetime, Frida created some 200 paintings.
On July 13th, 1954, Frida died in the Blue House. The cause of her death is officially reported as "pulmonary embolism".
Suicide is suspected but never confirmed
That afternoon her coffin is placed in the entrance hall of the Palacio de Bellas Artes
Her ashes were placed in a pre-Columbian urn which is on display in the "Blue House" that she shared with Rivera.
On November 24, Diego Rivera died of heart failure
On July 30th, the Blue House was opened to the public as the "Frida Kahlo Museum".
After the amputation of her right leg in August of 1953, Frida's mental state declined rapidly. On February 11, 1954, she wrote in her diary that she keeps wanting to kill herself but her love for Diego stops her.

When Frida was 6 years old, she had poliomyelitis.
But Frida's mother didn't accept this union
In 1939, Frida and Diego get divorced
"I tried to drown my sorrows, but the bastards learned how to swim"
Finally, they married again on December 08, 1940, the birthday of Diego.
The last public appearance of Frida was the July 02, 1954.

This presentation is dedicated to the mexican woman painter, Frida Kahlo. She was a woman who knew how to appreciate the life in a cheerful way and we are really proud of her.
We chose her because we like as a person, and her way to see the life. Is a feminist icon and in spite of all the problems she had in her life, she always saw the positive and beautiful side of things .
