5 "FIN-TASTIC" LESSONS TO CREATE DOLPHINS WITH DISCIPLINE!

RESPECT:
We will respect the rights of others and ourselves!
We all have feelings, and we should treat others the way we would like to be treated.
We treat others with respect by raising our hands and taking turns speaking.
We keep our hands and feet to ourselves. Which shows a respect for personal space.
In the community, we greet each other in a friendly way by saying "Hello." We wait our turn in line, and we speak politely to people working in stores and servers in restaurants.


How else can we show respect in the community?
In the world, we treat people from other countries with courtesy and respect. The people who work for the government are very respectful when dealing with people from other countries.

When you go to someone else's house, how can you show them respect?
Someways we show respect by saying "please" and "thank you", or holding the door open for someone behind you.

Who can demonstrate a way to show respect to a classmate?
ORDER!
Everyone in the building has the right to learn. We must act in an orderly manner so we don't interfere with the learning of others around us.

We can show we know what order is by speaking to everyone in a respectful manner, walking on the right side of the hall, raising our hands, and only be in an areas where we are allowed to go.
People show order when they're driving and obeying the rules of the road. People also show order by waiting in line at the store or other places.
Every country in the world has laws so they can have order among their citizens.

How can we show order in school?

Who can demonstrate one of the actions we just discussed?
ON TASK!
The more time we spend on task, the more we learn, and the smarter we become!

We show we are on task by listening to the adults in the building and by doing what they say.

People in Elgin are on task when they go to work and make sure the job is done.

How do we know workers are on task?
What happens to a worker at a job who is not on task?
Some examples of being on task are:
listening and following directions
asking for help when needed
only talking when given permission from the teacher

What are some others?

Being off task is when we are not doing what we are supposed to be doing when we are supposed to be doing it.
Examples?
If we are off task, what should happen?

Why is it important for us to be on task?
SAFETY!
When we are safe and feel safe, we are more ready and able to learn.

In school we are safe by walking on the right side of the hall and following the playground rules.

How else do we show SAFETY at DME?
In the community, we are safe because of the police and the laws they enforce. There are laws and rules for everyone. The reason we have laws is because everyone has the right to feel safe.
I am going to give you some examples of things that happen in school, and I want you to tell me if they are safe or unsafe.

I think we should define safety together. What do you think it means?

What are some examples that will make sure we have a safe school to learn in?

If we act unsafe, what could happen?
PROPERTY
It is important for us to protect the property of our school, ourselves, and the property of others.

In school, we respect property by keeping our school clean, and returning items to the appropriate places.

How do you respect property?
