Transcript of Unemployment of people with Disabilities

Sources
WHAT Causes Unemployment
Discrimination, unrealistic personal qualifications, lack of confidence, dated resumes, lack of research of the employer
Previously on my Brief presentation
Discrimination
"Key stakeholders
in the job market or
employers
attitude towards employees has been identified as an
important factor that influences the employment rate of individuals with disabilities”.
What's on the Agenda for Today
Confidence
Most people of the interviewed have confidence issues either because they have a strong will to be successful or have little confidence as they had to many let downs.
Unemployment of people with disabilities
I gave statistical information about this issue
Unemployment of people with disabilities

Statistical information included the unemployment rate of people with disabilities which 13.2%

The increased amount of people claiming to have disabilities which is now 10.5 million

I will be presenting the information gathered from JACIL, class material and then my personal research based on the causes of unemployment of people with disabilities and solutions to this problem.
Social Stratification
Employers attitude towards workers with disabilities
Employment History
Many people with disabilities don't have jobs for 25 weeks
Many people with disabilities have no jobs or have low prestige jobs
Unrealistic Personal qualifications
A person with more work experience had realistic personal qualifications and person with unrealistic personal qualification will not have have a long history of work experience.
Since both of these patterns depend on each other there is not much to say about this.
Interviewing Process
Resumes,Research
Most of the interviewees knew the basics of coming into a interview but this is still a pattern that hindered them from getting jobs.
They knew to dress business casual, have a resume but failed to research the company they're applying for.
Doesn't SSDI cover most of their finances ?
Why do they need to get a job ?
Well from what we learned from the material in class is that even though the government gives you money doesn't mean its enough to support the cost of living.
To get in this program, people with disabilities have to meet the requirements
Interesting enough people with disabilities don't understand this program fully which is why they can't trust it. Which is why they want jobs to get another source of income
So how much is SSDI and what does it stand for?
Class Connections
"William J, Wilson defines the underclass as having a economic position coupled with geographic isolation inner city poor living in areas with extremely high concentrations of poverty and caught in postindustrial economic trap of shrinking job opportunities".
Solutions
My partner and I came up with workshops that the people with disabilities can attend at JACIL
These workshops will last up until 4 to 6 days
"The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery."
"City-Data.com - Stats about All US Cities
"Find the Best Places to Live." Get Your Livability Score & Find The Best Places To Live.
