Formative Assessment

More about teaching than it is about testing
It is an “
instruction-enhancing
” process
Formative assessment should NOT be graded

For students to monitor and adjust their own learning based upon formative assessments, the teacher must:

Teach students how to monitor their own learning
Teach students what type of adjustments to make
Establish the expectation for monitoring and adjusting
Establish the necessary classroom conditions that enable students to monitor and adjust
Bringing it all Together

Formative assessment

Chromebooks:
iGoogle - will be going away
Email notification: will become part of an upcoming Tech in Five

TPEP:
on-going support
