In Brooklyn there are many monuments of different historic periods . The most important monuments are the Brooklyn museum, Brooklyn bridge, Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn Botanic Garden or Prospect park. This is the biggest green area of New York, and Brooklyn Heights.
New York is a famous and a important city of USA. It is placed on the East coast of the USA. Today, the city has got eight millions people. It's divided in five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn,Staten island, Queens and Bronx.
Brooklyn is the most populous of New York City's five boroughs. It has 2,6 millions people. It is on the Western extremity of Long Island. It is the most elegant , and is the oldest borough of New York. Brooklyn is formed by many areas.
A lot of Brooklyn's houses are made from red bricks and they aren't very tall. But in the center they are particulars because they are built in Neoclassic or Gothic style. But there are other houses built in the typical American style.
Brooklyn Museum is the second museum in New York and is between the most important museums in USA. In this museum there are many collections of different historical periods : for example, there are some pieces of Egypt's history, American Art, African Art, Islamic Art and many pieces of other cultures.
Brooklyn is composed by : 48% white people, 34% black people, 10% asiatic people and 0,5% American natives.
Brooklyn is a cosmopolitan borough,
because in the past, some immigrants wanted to live in this borough because the life wasn't expensive and it was a very good life. In Brooklyn there are Italians, Russians,
Brooklyn bridge is an important bridge in USA and it is the first made in steel. It was made from 1870 at 1883. In the past it was a most big bridge in the world.
It crosses the East river and connect Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The Brooklyn bridge is well known also because it is a famous chewing-gum brand.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Brooklyn Botanic Garden was projected in 1910. This is a Japanese garden because there are some Japanese flowers or tree. In this park there are some events of the Japanese culture .
In New York there are many religions.There are Christians,Catholics,Protestants .
In Brooklyn there are many churches and, the most important is Plymouth Church
Many tourist visit Brooklyn Heights because it is in a strategical position. In fact it is near the East river and near Manhattan, and there is a beautiful eye sight. In this area there are many churches or houses with the typical brownstones and some monuments made in 1800.
The street in Brooklyn Heights has the name of fruit, for example: Orange street.
The history of Brooklyn begins in 17th century, when the Dutch were the first Europeans to settle the area on the western edge of Long Island.In fact ,before, there were American Natives. The Dutch called the first city Breukelen.
Then,the British Empire conquest the Netherlands and their colony, too. In fact Brooklyn became English.
But on August 27,1776 there was the first American War of Independence, and the battle of Long Island was the first major engagement fought, and the largest of entire conflict .
By 1861 to 1864 there was the Civil War .
In 19th century Brooklyn and New York were divided.
But Brooklyn was taken as many small cities and other counties and the population grew.
Then the Brooklyn population voted to be united with New York, and Brooklyn became part of New York.
The Americans won this war, but New York was controlled by British, for the duration of the war.In fact it became the most important military base in North America
The Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge in New York City and is one of the oldest bridges of either type in the United States. Completed in 1883, it connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn by spanning the East River and was the first steel-wire suspension bridge constructed. Since its opening, it has become an icon of New York City, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964 and a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1972
