Transcript of THE CARBON CYCLE

By:Kassidy Moonen THE CARBON CYCLE The carbon cycle is the biogeochemical cycle by which carbon is exchanged among the biosphere, pedosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere of the Earth. human respiration and animal respiration, industry, & decomposition release carbon into the atmos phere.
plant respiration takes in carbon releases oxygen into the atmosphere, & uses the carbon for plant structure. What the carbon cycle is and how it functions? PURPOSE Carbon atoms enter the atmosphere by humans & animals breathing out. The atoms would be taken in by plants from photosynthesis. Plants then turn it into sugar to eat for themselves then lets out oxygen into the air. The animals & humans breath in the oxygen & eat the plants then the cycle starts all over again. THE ATMOSPHERE LAND PLANTS The carbon atom makes its way into the atmosphere by humans & animals breathing out. Then the plants suck in the carbon atoms. Animals & humans breath in oxygen. Then we produce carbon atoms by breathing out. Then the plants absorb the carbon atoms. Then they produce sugar to feed themselves & release oxygen & then the cycle starts all over again. SOIL Carbon gets into the soil by plants & animals dying. The carbon is returned to the soil during decomposition. The same carbon atom can move through many organisms & even end in the same place where it began. It leaves the soil by plant sucking in the carbon to produce sugar so it can eat then produces oxygen.
SURFACE OCEAN Surface ocean is the upper 400 meters of the ocean. There are 3 ways for carbon to get there. The processes are carbon diffusing from the atmosphere, by decomposing marine life, or from circulating water from the deep ocean. http://www.celsias.co.nz/article/august-delivers-some-warmest-ocean-temperatures/ http://www.slideshare.net/MMoiraWhitehouse/carbon-cycle-teach To make it easier for children to learn about the carbon cycle. http://www.windows2universe.org/earth/Water/ocean.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_cycle DEEP OCEAN It gets carbon from circulation with the surface ocean, & dead decaying marine life. When carbon gets to the deep ocean it usually stays their for hundreds of years before moving on. MARINE LIFE Marine life are animals that live under water. They need carbon for nutrition. This process is called photosynthesis.
