Written by: Haley James Scott Halo Lines 1-3 meaning Take a Listen.... "I never promised you a ray of light.
I never promised there'd be sunshine everyday.
I gave you everything i have, the good, the bad." Lines 4-6 "Why do you put me on a pedestal?
I'm so up high that I can't see the ground below
so help me down you've got me wrong, i don't
belong there." Chorus "One thing is clear, I wear a halo.
I wear a halo when you look at me
but standing from here you wouldn't say so
you wouldn't say so if you were me
And I, I just wanna love you
Oh, Oh, I just wanna love you." lines 7-9 "I always said that I would make mistakes
I'm only human and that's my saving grace
I fall as hard as I try, so don't be blinded." Lines 10-13 "See me as i really am
I have flaws and sometimes I even sin
So pull me from that pedestal
I don't belong there." Bridge "Why you think that you know me
But in your eyes i am something above you
It's only in your mind, Only in your mind
I wear a halo." The girl in this song is basically saying that she never promised him that she would always be perfect and never make mistakes. She gave him everything she was, even the flaws she had.

The first two lines are good metaphorical uses for happiness. "A ray of light" or "Sunshine" In this part of the first verse he writer is talking about how the guy she loves has very high expectations of her and thinks she is something very valuable and perfect. He thinks so highly of her that she feels like she cannot make any mistakes. The writer wants him to see her and love her for even the mistakes she makes. The writer feels as if to him she is an angel. She is perfect. She cannot make any mistakes. In her opinion though she isn't an angel. She just wants to love him for who he is. She doesn't want to be looked upon as perfect. In these lines she is obviously saying i make
mistakes. Hidden behind these words you can
assume the person she made the mistake to is taking it pretty bad. Because she is human and we make mistakes all the time that's something that gives her reason to why she makes mistakes and also she tries so hard to be perfect that when she screws up she screws up bad and doesn't want the person she loves to not see that about her. All she wants is for the person she is speaking to to see her for who she is. Someone who isn't perfect. She makes mistakes all the time. She doesn't want all these high expectations anymore. She doesn't understand why said person thinks he knows her so well when he isn't seeing her for who she really is and isn't forgiving her for a mistake she has made. In his eyes she's an angel who can't make any mistakes. Over All... In a quick summary i felt the meaning of this song was that she isn't perfect. She doesn't want the person she wrote this song for to think she is this perfect angel anymore. She wants said person to forgive her for the mistake she has made and to finally love her for who she is, flaws and all.

This song uses great metaphors to get its point across. Using a halo to represent perfection is one and using the pedestal and the great height it is at is another way of metaphors being used. Haley is married to one of the other main characters Nathan. She wrote this song for Nathan after she made the mistake of leaving him to go on tour with another rock star, Chris Keller, who ends up kissing her and Nathan finds out. She wrote this to tell Nathan I'm not perfect and I want you to see that and accept me. Yes i made a mistake but I love you and i want to see past this. Haley is a character off the hit TV show One Tree Hill, who is played by Bethany Joy Galeotti.

She is in grade 12 at the time of this song.

She is very musically talented and can clearly sing, play guitar, and piano.

She is also very smart and tutors students voluntarily. The End ! :) Haley James Scott Bio
