How many pages are out there on the internet?
How fast is the internet growing?
At the moment there are about 14.4 billion devices in the world that use te internet it is predicted by the year 2020 there will be 50.1 billion devices using the internet. So even though we have no exact number we can see a massive devices using internet increase. What is an IP address?
Every computer has an IP address. It is how they identify which computer it is, just as every house has an address, every computer has an IP address.

The police can use it to locate internet criminals as well.

How do search engines know that new pages have been written and uploaded onto the World Wide Web to be found and read by others?

Spiders and the web
Search engines make “spiders” to search how many web pages there are. Spiders crawl across the web and retrieve date from sites and send it back e.g google
Did you know that Google records every search that is made using their search engine and records it against the IP adress of the computer that made the search?
Think of it like your computer's address.
The actual size of the internet is expected to quadruple by 2015
7 million web pages are made every day!
There are at least 4.31 billion web pages
The number grows every day!
