The Great Pyramids of Giza What are they
The Great Pyramids of Giza, located in the Giza Necropolis are three large pyramids, one of them the Great Pyramid of Giza itself. The Giza Necropolis is also home to the Sphinx and many other Pyramids and tombs.

The Great Pyramid of Giza was the largest man-made structure in the world from 2570BC to about 1300AD and was surpassed by the Lincoln Cathedral in the UK in about 1300 (Thats 3800 Years!) AD. The Great Pyramid (also known as the Pyramid of Khufu and the Pyramid of Cheops) was the tomb of Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu and is the largest and the last still standing of the Ancient Wonders of The World.

The Great Pyramid, inside is a heap of tombs for the Pharaoh Khufu and his immediate family and high ranking government officials. The pyramid has a Grand Gallery, a Kings (Pharaohs) Chamber and a Queens Chamber.

The Great Pyramid of Giza was built over a 20 year period.

The Pyramid was very susceptible to grave robbers, tourists and archaeologist in later years and is still susceptible to tourists and serves as a major attraction to tourists today
A Diagram Of the Great Pyrimad How Were They Built? The Ancient Egyptian Pyramids were very confusing for early architects and explorers, as they were huge mysterious structures and they were made in 22nd century BC. But soon enough with the progress of technology and science, theory’s started to arise from the darkness and tell us why and how the pyramids were built.

Some say that ramps were used to erect these magnificent structures. Or logs were used to ‘drive’ the stone along the ground, but one thing we do know is that the ancient Egyptians built these structures to perfection.
