Preventing Abuse of power

What would happen f the power wasn't divided?

If the power wasn't divided equally between branches, it would make it easier for a person or group rise to the top and dominate. the separation of power and checks and balance system also make it so the laws that are passed are more thought out and made sure to be a positive impact on a community.

Making a law

A bill is a proposed law. To make this bill an official law it has to be passed by both houses, it is reviewed, and then, if signed by the president, is passed as a law. If the president refuses to sign the bill, it is given back to congress to be voted on again. If two-thirds of both houses vote "yes" for the bill to become a law, it does.

How the three branches divide power

Legislative branch- Makes laws!

Executive branch- Carries out laws and enforces them.

Judicial branch- Evaluates laws

Checks and balances

Checks and balances makes sure not one branch has too much power. Every branch has their own responsibilities and powers, but the checks and balance system makes sure that those responsibilities are equaled out.

Separation of power

By dividing the power of the three branches not one branch has all the power. Nor can one branch control the others.
