Cystic Fibrosis is a common hereditary disease which affects the entire body, causing progressive disability and often early death.

Symptoms includes salty tasting skin, poor growth and poor weight gain despite a normal food intake, Accumulation of thick sticky mucus, frequent chest infections and coughing or shortness of breath. infertility, and bowel obstruction in newborn babies. Cystic fibrosis is caused by a mutation of the gene Cystic fibrosis transmembrane condunctance regulator (cftr) which produces and regulates the amount of sweat, digestive juices and mucous in your body. The treatments for cystic fibrosis include antibiotics, an intrapulmonary percussive ventilator (IPV) which is a machine that takes out all of the excess mucous from the patients lungs, or doctors can also perform a lung transplant.
