It is a discipline that uses scientific knowledge of the behavior and effects of electrons to create components, devices, systems or equipment that use electricity as part of their source of power. These components include capacitors, diodes, resistors and transistors.
What do Electronics Engineers do?
Electronics engineers research, design, develop and test precision components and systems, developing the way electricity is used to control equipment. The work is usually carried out in cross-functional project teams, with colleagues in electronics and other branches of engineering.
Electronics touches on almost all areas of human activity, so its applications are diverse. They include:
Medical Instruments
Mobile Phones
Radio and Satellite Communication
In order to become an electrical engineer you need to at least have a bachelor’s degree. The program requires a 4 to 5 years commitment depending on the university. Some universities give credit to the students who work in the fields to gain the experience.
The courses offered in the program include general principles about engineering and courses that focus on electrical engineering. Introductory courses in engineering principles involve teamwork, problem solving and design in a general engineering context. However, the courses that focus on electric engineering include microelectronics, electric circuits and electromagnetics fields.
There are also design courses that help the students get familiar with the computer aided design program for future modeling and stimulation.
In order to be able to complete your bachelor degree program, you need to complete other courses such as: chemistry, physics, humanities, advanced math along with English composition programs.
World wide approximate average salary: $34,000/year.
-USA: $55,000/year

-UK: $39,000/year

-India: $8000/year

-Audio and video equipment industries give the lowest salaries.

-Semiconductor industry gives the highest salaries.
There are many job opportunities for electronics engineers
Control and Circuit design

Power stations
Electronics is now an important part of the automotive industry. Electronics is used in engine control units, dashboard indicators, air-conditioning, safety systems, braking systems and infotainment systems.
Tasks and duties
Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical or engineering problems are encountered before, during, and after construction.
• Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data.
• Install and maintain electrical control systems and solid-state equipment.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems.
• Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical instruments or testing equipment.
• Write commissioning procedures for electrical installations.
Working Conditions
Usually work regular business hours, but may be required to work long hours, evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.
Work in offices, workshops, and factories.
May travel to worksites to do installation and servicing work.
During their working life, electronics engineers may find themselves supevising a wide range of individuals including scientists, electricians, computer programmers and other engineers.
So they are not only involved at the cutting edge of system design and development, technical work accounts for only a fraction of the work they do. A lot of time is also spent on tasks such as discussing proposals with clients, preparing budgets and determining project schedules.
Many senior engineers manage a team of technicians or other engineers and for this reason project managment skills are important. So a wide range of electronics engineers are employed as project managers.
Electronic Engineers can find jobs in the following industries:
Power Generation
