The History of softball
In 1897
the first league began.
In 1900
Hancock's game spread throughout the country. His team was called the Kittens, his game was called kitten ball.
In 1926
Walter Hakanson made up the name softball.
In 1889
rules and a league were established by the boat club.
In 1982
The womens college world series began.
In 1910
softball became a sanctioned NCAA sport.
In 1934
The ASA was created, which helped cement softball and its rules.
In 1887
In Chicago softball was created. it was an indoor game, often called indoor baseball.
