Movement Is About Time
Anything that moves is changing over
time. A slow shutter speed shows how
something moves during the time the
shutter is open, and so you get a blur. A
fast shutter speed captures a moment in
time of that movement, a short enough
moment to render the action sharp. ISO
When choosing the ISO setting I generally ask myself the following four questions:
Light – Is the subject well lit?
Grain – Do I want a grainy shot or one without noise?
Tripod – Am I using a tripod?
Moving Subject – Is my subject moving or stationary?
ISO measures the sensitivity of the image sensor.
The lower the number the less sensitive your camera is to light and the finer the grain.
Higher ISO settings are generally used in darker situations to get faster shutter speeds Composition 'Photography Composition' is something of a dirty word in some photographic circles,
because of the way that certain rules used to be raised to the status of a religion, and a
picture which did not follow the Rules of Photography Composition was automatically
disregarded by the self-appointed pundits in the camera clubs and photo magazines.
Even so, the old 'rules' are excellent general guidelines, though you should never be
afraid to break them if you can get a better picture that way. Composition is all about how you arrange the elements of the scene in front of you.
While you can't move the landscape, you will still have plenty of opportunities for perfecting your composition.
Camera + Subject + Light Decide What Your Subject Really Is so that you can be sure your composition is based
around it. You may also run into trouble if you
include multiple subjects in a photograph, as
this will confuse your viewer. Watch Out forDistractions Rule of Thirds C- Curve, S-Curve
& leading lines Framing Closely related to the S-Curve, this is where you use
an archway or doorway, to frame the principal subject. By framing the scene, all the attention is concentrated
