Uncle Axel

Micheal
When Unlce Axel finds out about David being Telepathic instead of telling the inspector and putting David in danger, he protects David (like Mary) and tells him to keep his power a secret because it's different from others.
Uncle Axel is also wise. He doesn't allow the society to change his opinions and 'brain wash' him. For example,

"No, what makes man a man is mind; it's not a thing, it's a quality, and minds aren't all the same value:they're better or worse, and the better they are the more they mean." (80).
David feels terrified because he fears he will be killed just as Sophie and Aunt Harriet.
David was brave at the beginning of the novel but when Sophie and her parents were captured he felt lost, scared, and didn't know what to do next. He was ashamed and felt guilty for telling his father about their secret and certainly a lot of hatred towards his father as well.
Uncle Axel takes a fatherly role towards David. He protects him, and guides him towards to right direction and is there for him. he also helps David boost his self esteem when David was feeling lost and scared about his future.
Micheal studies in Kantak because his parents
don't feel comfortable about thing taught in school in waknuk.
Micheal is intelligent since he is on top of his class.
Micheal acts like teacher since he teaches his group about what he learns.

What does a "rusted mirror " mean?
How was David effected by the death of Aunt Harriet?
"Why does Micheal's parents send him to a different school?
In Waknuk, the deviations are usally caught after someone has seen the proof. Just because there is something physically wrong with a person doesn't mean that God will curse the land.
While David and his friends are telepathic, they are not considered as mutants as people have not seen physical proof.
This proves that we can not always believe what we see but sometimes there is more depth to a situation.
What is Uncle Axel's view on the Tribulation?
Uncle Axel supported David just a like friend
David was told you will must stay strong
