CLASS TASK: RMIT RESEARCH PORTAL
We will now explore the RMIT research portal in more depth.
There are 5 key focus areas of research within RMIT.
are the 5 key focus areas?
are they focus areas?
initiatives & programs are being undertaken within each area?
Student activity 1
Using the RMIT research portal, identify and list all of the Research Institutes and Centres within the University and summarise their key roles/areas of focus.
You may consider creating a table such as the one below to present your information....
Key Role / area of focus
Student Activity 2
Select one of the Research Institutes or Centres from the table.
After reading about that particular institute or centre, write a paragraph
in your own words
highlighting the key initiatives of the institute or centre.
You will then be required to communicate your findings to the rest of the class.
So far, we have:
Learnt about the scope of DTRP
Created a glossary of key terms
Accessed the RMIT research portal
Explored various RMIT research initiatives
Now we will familiarise ourselves with two important resources.....

Introduction to Inquiry Research
What does research look like?
Shortlist 3 areas that you might be interested in researching for your DRTP.
(1 from each focus area: G.U.S.)
Outline the Focus area, then the issue or problem.
(Use your student manual to refresh your memory)
What about poor old Wiki?...
Why Wiki might not be a true friend...
So far, we have:
shared some ideas for DTRP topics
explored the first steps of research together
updated our glossary of words for week 2
So doesn't that mean we are
to start researching?
Not just yet...
