Transcript of Eliot Ness

Eliot Ness
"California Love" by Dr. Dre and Tupac Eliot Ness was born in Chicago on April 19, 1903. He joined the Bureau of Prohibition in 1927, forming a team of prohibition enforcement personnel known as The Untouchables to counteract the activities of the infamous gangster Al Capone. Eliot’s career in law enforcement ended in 1944. After he sank into debt because of a half in business and an unsuccessful run for mayor of Cleveland, he had died in 1957. Contrary to popular belief, Eliot never was an FBI agent. In 1933, Ness actually applied to become an FBI agent but was turned down, mainly because of salary differences and his strong ties to the press. Eliot Ness was responsible for Al Capone’s arrest and conviction. Eliot Ness was also credited for turning around Cleveland, Ohio, in the mid-1930s when it was overcome with crime and corruption.
