Pegasus News
Argus Filch shares his name with a greek mythological monster. He is the care taker of Hogwarts and is like the guard to the students. Argus, the monster, has one hundred eyes and was chosen by Hera to guard Io, one of Zeus's lovers. Argus Filch owned a cat that always most of what was going on in the castle, and was like his second pair of eyes. The author uses this allusion to give you insight into Argus Filch's role in the book as the caretaker of Hogwarts.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Professor Quirell magically plays a harp to cause the three-headed dog, Fluffy, to sleep so he and Voldemort can reach their prize: the Sorcerer's Stone. This alludes to the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. In this story, Orpheus lulls Cerberus (the three-headed dog that guards the gates to the underworld) to sleep by strumming a beautiful song on his lyre. He does this to get to Hades to ask for his wife back from the dead. She is his prize. In the end they both end up empty handed.
My Fair Lady
My fair Lady relates to the story of Pygmalion. In My Fair Lady a man transforms a street urchin into the ultimate gentle lady, and then he falls in love with her.
In the story of Pygmalion, he
sculpts a woman out of clay
and falls in love with her.
In both stories the men were
very arrogant at first and
wanted to create the perfect
women. Both the women
changed the mens' personality.
Outside of the Austrian Parliament building, stands a statue of Athena. It alludes to Athena, the goddess of wisdom, courage , and inspiration. This statue was placed there in hope that the parliament will make good and wise decisions.
EOS Lip Balm and EOS
EOS Lip Balm relates to the goddess
of the dawn, Eos. She was said to have brought fourth the hope of a new day. Dawn represents a fresh start, and if
you use EOS Lip Balm your lips will be as
good as new. Its design resembles the sun coming over the horizon when you open it. The outside of the lip balm is shaped like an egg, which is what most living organism start out as.
Pegasus News alludes to Pegasus, the mythological winged horse. The Pegasus is a winged, divine stallion who was incredibly fast and wise. This relates to Pegasus News, because every news company wants get the fastest and most accurate news out to the citizens. They claim to be the Dallas Fort Worth area's #1 site for news, events, concerts, and dining.

Prometheus at Rockefeller
At the plaza at the front of 30 Rockefeller Center there is a statue of Prometheus. Prometheus was the titan who brought fire to man only to be punished by Zeus. This allowed man kind to develop math, writing, agriculture, medicine, and science. Behind the statue there is an inscription that reads, "Prometheus, teacher in every art, brought the fire that hath proved to mortals a means to mighty ends." Rockefeller Center is a place of art and commercial businesses. It shows how man kind has developed.

This song is about a man not giving up hope and getting to the light at the end of the tunnel. These lyrics relate to the story of Odysseus and the Sirens. The Sirens are said to have beautiful voices that lure men towards their island so they will to shipwreck on it. Odysseus's crew stuffed their ears wax to avoid hearing the Siren's song. This is what the lyrics depict. This impacts the meaning of the song because you know that the man will not give into temptation; he will succeed in his endeavor.

This song is about a girl wanting to be a boy's
one and only. The girl wants to be the guys Aphrodite. Aphrodite is the goddess of love and. The girl wants to be the mostly beautiful woman in the guys eyes.
Cupid's Arrow

Our product is a candle that when lighted gives off a pleasant aroma that will cause your crush to fall in love with you. This effect is similar to the effect of Cupid's arrow. When it strikes someone they instantly fall in love. The use of Cupid's arrow (as the name) is to convince the buyer that it is as effective as Cupid's arrow would be.
The Matrix
In Matrix series, there is a simulated reality called the Matrix. This is created by machines to subdue the human population while their body heat is used as an energy source. Neo ,a computer programmer, is drawn into the rebellion. Morpheus is the head of the rebellion and he developed a way for the rebels to go in and out of the Matrix, which is like a dreamworld. He shares his name with Morpheus, the god of dreams who is able to go in and out of peoples' dreams. This helps you understand the role of Morpheus in the movies.

The Starbucks Logo is a twin-tailed siren that looks like a mermaid. Sirens were said to have beautiful voices that would cause sailors to wreck their ships on their island. Starbucks wants to lure you in so you will consume their product, which could possibly become addictive like the siren's song.
