Endurance in Suffering
Romans 8:23-25
The ability to endure suffering is by having a Holy Spirit empowered and Word framed expectation and imagination of the culmination of our salvation.

Hope
HOPE
Grasping
Hope is the emotional response to something we desire and are confident is going to happen.
Hope: Then vs. Now
Romans 5:2
“Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
Acts 24:15
“having a hope in God, which these men themselves accept, that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust.”
Hope: Something Unseen
Hope: A Different Focus
Faith's focus is on the promisor and the promise.
Hope's focus is on the content of the promise.
Hope: A Fruit of Maturity
Romans 5:3-4
“3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.”
John 3:2-3
“2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.”
The Character of Christ
The Purity of Christ
Philippians 3:14-17
“14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained. 17 Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us.”
The Focus of Christ
Hope: Given and Cultivated
Ephesians 2:8
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God”
Romans 15:13
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Romans 15:4
“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
