Essential Questions Other Characteristics What's Alive? What makes something a living
thing? To sum it all up... Is it alive? All living things reproduce! Use the Promethean pen to color the living things green and the nonliving objects brown. Are these things living or

A fire grows and needs air to burn

it does not need food or water.
Fire is a nonliving thing! A plant is a living thing. It grows and changes! Water moves and changes but it does not need air to breathe or food to eat.
Water is a nonliving thing! Chipmunks are living things!
