Transcript of Christina Hoff Sommers

Feminist, Passionate, Critical
I least admired were...
"Most of us, whether we know it or not are driven by emotion and group loyalty"
Three Words...
Value Lenses my pioneer exemplifies
Christina Hoff Sommers best exemplifies honesty because she is straight foward and truthful in her pursuit for educational reform. She believes, "As a philosopher, you have to want dissent. That keeps you honest and keeps the research credible." (Sommers, 2014)
A second value lens Sommers exemplifies is respect. She questions the way society treats people by asking, "What’s wrong with just treating human beings with respect?" This value can also be seen in the way Sommers advocates for the educational system to respect the rights of boys. (Sommers, 2014)
Sommers has come under fire due to her disparaging remarks about many feminist groups and women’s studies on college campuses. I feel perhaps she is trying to further her own agenda by criticizing the work of others.

She calls for women to change their college majors in order to close the wage gap. I see this as the pursuit of money and equality over happiness.

Qualities I most admire ...
One Value...One Sentence
Christina Hoff Sommers does not just go for the popular choice instead she asks the hard questions and demands proof and evidence for any answers given.
She encourages young people to seek the truth for themselves.
She is an advocate for the reeducation of the nations boys.
She is morally aware in that she "take[s] the time to be informed" and she uses her "intelligence to see when a situation requires moral judgement." (Lickona, 1991, p.54)
The one value I would ascribe to my pioneer is

Christina Hoff Sommers
" American women happen to be among the freest, most self-determining people in the world, but the gender feminist seek to liberate them from an all-encompasing "patriarchal rape culture."
