Transcript of Gender Inequality!

Gender Inequality!
1. Cultural Traditions
How's and Why's
Men have traditionally been considered to be the head of the household and the providers for their families.
Men have always been the ones to make all of the decisions and have final say over domestic matters.
Women are raised and groomed as property and for the purpose of selling them or giving them to men to "take care" of them and put the needs of the men before their own.
2. Religious Beliefs
3. Social Class
Many believe God is a man
The bible states that God created man first then woman second
In the Quran, it states that men are higher than women and women should obey men.
Access to education: limits their ability to succeed
Economic status: Privileged
Access to healthcare
Essential question:
Many people are victimized by gender inequality and their voices are not heard, but can:
Equal wages for men and women
Women support groups &
more government seats for women
help create a solution to this epidemic occuring in the u.s?

We should not focus on pros and cons of gender inequality, but more on possible solutions and what we can do to stop it
Possible Solutions
1. More Women Politicians.
Increase women's share of seats in national governments and local government bodies.
More than 20 countries have a woman holding office as the head of a national government, and the global participation rate of women in national-level parliaments is nearly 20%
Increasing women’s representation in government is necessary to achieve gender equality.
2. Opportunities and education
Create programs to help provide opportunities for all women around the world.
Strengthen opportunities for positive futures.
Girls who have been educated are likely to marry later and to have smaller and healthier families. Educated women can recognize the importance of health care and know how to seek it for themselves and their children.
