It has many basalt dunes on its surface
Mars is the 4th planet from the Sun
Mars has its moons, Phoboes and Deimos orbiting it
Its almost half Earth's size in diameter Mars was named after the Roman God of War
Mars's moons, Phoboes and Deimos, were named after the horses who pulled the chariot of Ares, the Greek counterpart of the Roman God of War
The association between the God of War is the red color of Mars and this was compared to the red blood in wars Mars has two moons, Phoboes and Deimos
Both moons were discovered by American astronomer, Asaph Hall
Phoboes is the larger one out of the two and is dominated by large creators
Deimos is smaller and is not as heavily cratered
Phoboes orbits Mars so quickly that it goes around Mars three times a day, and this causes Phoboes to appear to rise in the west and set in the east
Today, it is thought that Phoboes and Deimos are asteroids that have been captured by Mars's gravitational pull By Jamila Piri Phobos Deimos The Roman God of War Missions to Mars The Mars Odyssey Mars Spirit Rover Mars, Marte, il dio romano della Guerra
