Francisco Mali-Rise & Fall BY:Molly Cron Mali reached its peak under their great ruler Mansa Musa. The kingdom spread over large areas to the north and west along the Niger River. MALI "RISE" Mali came to power in the area that had been Ghana.
Mali had firm control of the trade routes to the southern lands of gold and the northern lands of salt.
Mansa Musa brought the lands of the Middle Niger under Mali's rule.
He enclosed the cities of Timbuktu and Gao within his empire.
Mali was at its peak in the year 1312. MALI "FALL" Disputes from Mansa Musa's successors weakened Mali.
Rival members of the royal court fought for leadership of the empire.
This conflict weakened central authority within Mali.
The Mali empire ended in the year 1610 due to a civil war. FACTS ABOUT MALI Ibn Batuta, traveling through Mali, about twelve years after Musa's death, found Mali 'complete and had general safety in the land'.
Like the Mali kings before him, Musa was a Muslim. Different religious customs and ceremonies were allowed in his court.
Niani was the capital of Mali.
The total size of Mali was 1,290,000 kilometers.
The type of government was authoritarian.
The main religion of Mali was Islam/Islamic. MALI RULERS Mansa Karifa- an emperor of Mali who went insane.
Mansa Wali- a muslim ruler of Mali.
Sundiata Keita-the founder of the Mali empire.
Munsa Musa- the greatest emperor of Mali, he brought Mali to its greatest height. Years Lasted The Mali empire lasted 375 years, 1235 to 1610. Starting with Sundiata Keita, the first emperor,and ending with a civil war. Thank you for watching and listening to my project(: PEGS strands Work Cited
