Careers and Decision making
What is the difference between a salary and a wage
A salary is paid over the course of a week or 2 weeks. A wage is most likely paid hourly.
Researching Careers
The job outlook is also very important
Is the job outlook bright, average, or below average?
First, find out what you want to do
If it's bright there will be lots of jobs available
If the outlook is average, the job will grow slower
if the job outlook is below average, jobs will shrink and possibly disappear
Wage Equity
Once you find that out, you can look at other details
What knowledge is needed
what skills are required
What abilities are needed
What type of personality you need to have
What technology you need to use
Write these terms down
Wage - set amount of money earned per hour of work
Wage equity - men and women earn the same amount of money for doing the same job.
Salary - a fixed regular payment, typically paid on a monthly or biweekly basis but often expressed as an annual sum, made by an employer to an employee, especially a professional or white-collar worker.
Would you rather be paid
a salary or a wage?
