Romeo and Juliet--Personal Reflection Essay
Transcript of Romeo and Juliet--Personal Reflection Essay
Developing Group Norms
Brainstorm Group norms
First, make a list of all the problems you've experienced working with groups.
One issue that comes up in EVERY group is the problem of time management.
Inspire teachers have a set of group norms that we read at every staff meeting. This is a way for us to commit to a set of expectations for behavior we will agree to follow.
For this reason, Inspire staff has agreed to arrive to the meeting ON TIME.
In order to prevent this, we agree to confront colleagues directly when we have a problem with them.
Norms are a way to anticipate problems within a group and solve them BEFORE they happen.
When collaborating with a group of people, it's a useful step to develop group norms in order to articulate group expectations for arriving at successful outcomes.
Another issue is the possibility of hurt arising from gossip.
Groups for Personal Reflection Essay Project
Next, write a list of norms starting with "We agree..." designed to anticipate and solve the problems you listed.
For this project...
We will be writing reflective essays that make connections between themes in Romeo and Juliet and our own personal experiences.
For this project, we will work in groups to develop a rubric for the essay, give peer feedback, and grade each others' work.
Because it will be important to work together and collaborate effectively, we will create norms for behavior for our groups.
