What's a Geode?
When I was researching geodes it said that they were like tootsie roll pops. They have a boring hard outside and a surprise on the inside.
The definition of a geode is a small cavity lined with crystals or other mineral matters. To explain better geodes are rock that has many crystals all over the inside, but the outside looks like a rock.
Where can you find geodes ?
You can find geodes in lots of places around the world. The most concentrated areas are in the desert. Areas with volcanic ash beds or limestone are good places to find geodes. You can find lots in the western united states. That includes California, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. The state of Iowa also has geodes. In fact the state rock is the geode. My aunt brought me some, and I think they are from Colorado. That is were my aunt lives. In Illinois you can find geodes near the Iowa and Illinois border.
