Shonteah Hargrove, Ashton Evans, Jaylen Jones Thanks for watching. We hope you enjoyed and learned something new. His mask uses Infrared because it allowed
him to sense warm objects, or body heat.
When he sensed these objects, he then went
for the kill. Each cell (basic term for cell phone) has its own "base station" that both receives and emits radio waves. When a call is placed from a cellular phone, a signal is sent from the cell phone antenna to that cell's base station antenna. The base station responds to the cellular phone signal by assigning the phone an available radio frequency channel. When the radio frequency channel is assigned, modulated radio signals are simultaneously received and transmitted, allowing voice information to be carried between the cell phone and the base. The base station transfers the call to a switching center, where the call can be transferred to a local telephone carrier or another cell phone. Radio Waves A very low frequency electromagnetic wave
that is used for the transmission of radio and television signals. Its relative size= a mountain range. Infrared Relating to the invisible part of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths longer than those of visible red light but shorter than those of microwaves. Infrared light is invisible to the unaided eye, but can be felt as heat on one’s skin. Warm objects emit infrared light, and the hotter the object, the shorter the wavelength of IR light emitted. to detect the range, speed, and
other characteristics of remote
objects. Electromagnetic Spectrum The characteristic wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation that is emitted or absorbed by an object, substance, atom, or molecule. What is Visible Light? Visible light is a range of electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by the human eye. Its relative size= bacteria What is our project? Cell Phones Radar We are acting as Chemists who are responsible for determining and evaluating the Electromagnetic Spectrum. Our job is to analyze each type of EMS (electromagnetic spectrum) radiation. Microwave Radiation An electromagnetic wave with a wavelength between that of infrared and short waves (one millimeter to one meter). Its relative size= a dice. Gamma Rays A Rainbow For example, we see visible light waves as the colors of the rainbow. Each color has a
different wavelength. Red has the longest wavelength and violet has the shortest wavelength. When all the waves are seen
together, they make white light. When white
light shines through a prism, the white light
is broken apart into the colors of the visible
light spectrum. Each color in a rainbow corresponds to a different wavelength of electromagnetic spectrum. Predators Mask Ultraviolet Rays Ultraviolet rays have the longest
wavelengths, and are only slightly affected by ozone levels. Most UVA radiation is able to reach Earth's surface and can contribute to sunburn, skin aging, eye damage, and can suppress your immune system. Its relative size= DNA. Tanning Tanning occurs when the skin produces additional pigment (coloring) to protect itself against burns from ultraviolet rays. Overexposure to these rays can cause eye injury, wrinkling of the skin, light-induced skin rashes, and can increase your chances of developing skin cancer. successive waves. The SI unit (International Unit) for wavelength is meters. Frequency- X-Ray The portion of the electromagnetic
spectrum that has a very short wave
length. It has a wave length longer than
gamma rays, yet shorter than visible
light. X-rays can penetrate various
thicknesses of all solids, and when
absorbed by a gas, can result in
ionization. Its relative size= an atom. X-Rays X-rays are a high-energy type of
electromagnetic radiation. X-ray radiation has
a much shorter wavelength than visible light.

high-energy ionizing
radiation. Gamma rays
originate in the nucleus.

scintillation (A flash or sparkle of
light) camera or Anger camera, is a
device used to detect gamma
radiation emitting radioisotopes (an
atom with an unstable nucleus). Over the past decades, technology has evolved at a rapid pace. Today, technology provides the ability to receive e-mail on portable, hand held devices; make cellular telephone calls from anyplace on Earth; track and forecast the paths of hurricanes and tropical storms with great accuracy; and a vast number of other capabilities that are all enabled by the electromagnetic spectrum.
