In the 1930s a Jewish boy named Yanke was at the mercy of the cruel Nazis. Just a week ago Yanke was sitting at the dinner table with plenty of food on his plate, now he is lucky to get a piece of bread that is not two months old. As he was put in 10 different concentration camps 3 death marches, and with all his family gone he barely escapes death saying ,''If I had known what the next six years of my life would've been like I would of eaten more. I wouldn't have complained about brushing my teeth , or taking a bath, or going to bed at eight o'clock every night.I would of played more. laughed more. I would of hugged my parents and told them i love them. but that was ten years old, and I had no idea of the nightmare that was to come. None of us did''.
Rising action
Yanke and his family hear gun shots outside and Yanke looks out the window and sees German solders open fire on his apartment building. Yanke and his family also hears a scream across the hall and they see and elderly woman being beat by german solders. To protect themselves they decide to hide on the roof in a chicken coop. But then they heard an announcement '' We need 10,000 jews to come with us to a different place, if you do not cooperate you and your family will be shot dead, you can run but you can't hide''. Yanke and his family go out of their hiding place and turn themselves in to the Nazis. Little did they know it was a draft to go to a concentration camp.
