This political scandal didn't surface until November 1986 What's it all about? When? Began as...
mission to free 7 American hostages held by group w/ Iranian ties connected to the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution.
Was planned that Israel would ship weapons to Iran, and then U.S. would resupply Israel and receive the Israeli payment.
Iranian recipients promised to do everything in their power to achieve the release of the U.S. hostages. Who was involved? Background Info Boland Amendment, 1984. CIA and Department of Defense can't give military aid

Operation was discovered only after an airlift of guns was downed over Nicaragua. What happened after? Nicaraguan government sued the U.S. before the International Court of Justice
Ruled in favor of Nicaragua
U.S. refused to compensate.
Proved that the U.S., a permanent member of the Security Council, blocked any enforcement mechanism attempted by Nicaragua. OHHH Reagan.... Behind the Truth... Still today, Reagan's role in the transactions is not definitively known
